The Potential of Our Mind
March 16, 2008 on 8:56 pm | In Our Thinking | 3 Comments“We bemoan the loss of our forests, we worry over our dwindling resources of coal and oil. We decry the waste in our factories. But the greatest waste of all, we pay no attention to – the waste of our own potential mind power.”
Robert Collier – Author “The Secret of Ages” 1948
How true is that thought written by Robert Collier! We are born with that incredible potential. We can do anything in life and yet through our conditioning we are taught that we can not do things. We are limited by the thoughts that are deeply embedded in us by our families, friends and people we meet in life. We can not blame our parents for the conditioning we received. They received the same conditioning from their parents and they wanted the best for us, but you can not give what you don’t have. So, our parents could not give us the great knowledge about our potential as they did not have it themselves.
Here, you may ask, what potential do I have?
My answer to you will be that you have such an incredible potential that you can not even comprehend it with your mind. You are brilliant, you have an incredible talent. You can be, do or have anything you seriously want. All you need is to realize that you are that incredible, special person. You see, they have not taught us at school that we have that potential. They have not taught us at school how to make goals and how to achieve them, how to make money. They have not taught us at school how to make decisions, how to think. They gave us at school a great knowledge of things, but none or very little knowledge of life. Many people are lost, searching for directions in life, not being able to make right decisions, and sometimes even to make any decision. They often feel like someone is pulling their strings. Like everything in their lives is out of their control.
I have news for you. No one is pulling your strings. You are pulling your own strings. It might seem to you that other people are controlling your life, but only because you let them do it. You have that unlimited potential and you are using it all the time. You are either using it to sabotage yourself or you are using it to advance in your life. Use it to make your life better. Don’t waste it. Life is too precious to be unhappy, especially when you have everything you need to live a life of your dreams.

What is Stress?
February 23, 2008 on 9:02 pm | In Our Thinking | 2 CommentsStress is a result of ignorance. People get stressed because they do not realize that they have the power to control their lives. We are conditioned to believe that we are the little people in a huge world and everything that happens to us is out of our control. How many times have we heard people saying, “Everyone is pulling my strings.”
The truth is just the opposite. We can be in a total control of our lives. We are the ones that pull our own strings. We are the ones that have the power to change anything we want in our lives. The only catch here is that we need to have the knowledge that we can change our lives, and then we have to believe that we can, and finally expect that what we want it is going to happen.
When we understand the potential we have and I mean really understand it, we will never get stressed.

You have only two choices in life:
1. You take on a challenge and you grow and become better, and have a better life.
2. When faced with a challenge you move back to your comfort zone. You might feel good in your comfort zone. You might not feel happy, but feel safe. You might not like your job, but you stay where you are, because you know it, it is your comfort zone. A new job you don’t know might be scary. You might have too much responsibility.
Anything new is somewhat frightening or uncomfortable. But remember with the new, besides the fear of the unknown, comes excitement and a better life. So, put on your adventurer’s hat and go for the new, the exciting, the better, and discover the life that you thought never existed.

Take the Word “Debt” Out of Your Mind
February 17, 2008 on 6:42 pm | In Our Thinking | 2 CommentsI just read a great blog on debt relief www.mydebtreliefblog.com that gave me an idea for this blog.
Many people today are in a financial situation that is not very encouraging to them. If you are one of those people read on. If not, forward this website to your friend who is.
You have two choices:
1. You can sit and be depressed, looking at your gloomy future, because this is how you see it. Worry every single minute of you life and go nowhere fast. Actually, you won’t go “anywhere”. You will keep disintegrating. You see, you can never stay still. Nothing stays still. You either grow or you disintegrate. The last proposition does not sound too attractive, so I suggest you keep reading and really take to your heart the second choice.
2. First, relax and stop worrying. You think here, how can I relax and stop worrying with the pile of bills? If you don’t relax, you will never change your situation. So, relax first. Forget your past. It is history. Your bills are history. Your situation is history. If you let your bank account or the pile of bills control your thinking, you will never change your life. You need to understand that your present situation is the result of your thinking you had till now. So, what you need to do is to change your thinking. Instead of thinking, why I can not do that, concentrate only on why I can. Make a list of things you can do right now that will improve your situation. It might be that nothing comes to your mind first, but take a piece of paper and start. You will be surprised how many things will come to your mind, you have never thought about before, or you could not even consider as possible. And then, ACT ON THEM! And remember, NEVER LOOK BACK.

Is Thinking Positive Thoughts Enough to Change our Lives? Continuation…
January 27, 2008 on 11:29 pm | In Our Thinking | 1 CommentVery important part of our success, something that as important as positive thinking are our actions. We might have a wonderful goal. We might engage all the “right thinking”, but if we don’t make a plan of action towards our dream and we don’t act on it nothing is going to happen. And I am not talking just about any actions. How badly do you want to achieve your goal, your dream? Badly enough? Then I advice you to do the best you can, with what you have, from where you are. See what it is that you can do and act on it! Life is too precious to waste, to wake up one day just to discover that there are things in your life that you wished you have done. Don’t wish. Act on it! Make a plan and go for it!
Remember, you can do, be or have anything you seriously want.

Is Thinking Positive Thoughts Enough to Change our Lives? Continuation…
January 20, 2008 on 9:29 pm | In Our Thinking | 1 CommentThrough our lives we get conditioned to think in a certain way and behave in a certain way. One of the very important things that keep us where we are now and stifle the development of our unlimited potential towards achieving our dreams is our past. Here, I want to stress that is not our past as such, not the things that happened to us, but us holding onto the things that happened in the past. We are conditioned to look at our past and base our future on that. This is the biggest mistake anyone can make. Thinking along those lines will insure that you are going to have the same future as your past. We might have divorces, bankruptcies or many failures. We might have terrible things happen to us in the past. You have to let all of these go! It is in the past. It is history. Don’t dwell on your past. Don’t recall the bad times. Past is the past and it belongs there…in the past. Today is a new moment. It is up to you to use every new moment wisely. What happened to you has nothing to do with that moment and what your future is going to be. You can create your future anyway you want. You are very special. You have unlimited potential and you can be, do or have anything you seriously want.

Don’t look at the “pie in the sky” as something you can not get. Concentrate on something much more important. Ask yourself a very important question: What kind of pie do I want? An apple pie, a chocolate cream pie, a lemon pie, a pecan pie, sweet potato pie, pumpkin pie or….
Make a wise decision, because after all you will be the one eating it when you get it from the sky.

Is Thinking Positive Thoughts Enough to Change our Lives?
January 13, 2008 on 2:09 am | In Our Thinking | No CommentsThe reason I picked this subject for my blog today is John Smith’s comment on Today’s World Blog. Thank you for your comment, John.
“Nice, but I think it is sometimes not enough to get it complete.” John Smith.
John, you are so right. Being positive is a huge step in the right direction, but it is not enough. There is something I would like to make everyone aware of. Being positive does not necessarily mean that we are really positive. We might be saying great things, we might make people believe that we think positive things, yet in the depth of our heart where no one is aware what is going on, only us, we still have negative thoughts. I was always considered to be a very positive person not only by me, but by many other people, until I started to research the power of our mind and with a kind of shock I discovered how terribly negative I was. I was talking positive, I was always smiling, always happy, but inside I was filled with negativity. I would say that the proverbial glass was always full, but inside I was worrying what will happen if the water in that glass dries out or get spilled? How many times we make plans yet we worry that they might not come through or come not as we planned? I can not even count how many times I have done that before. Was I positive or negative then? I had positive ideas, yet I was worried that negative things could happen to me. Well, definitely I was negative. If I was positive I would not worry. I would know in my heart that everything was going to be OK.
To be continued…..

Why Are We Thinking Negative Thoughts? Continuation…Answers
December 10, 2007 on 5:00 am | In Discussion, Our Thinking | 2 CommentsThank you all for the wonderful comments you posted. I will try to answer some of them here.
Lori, your story is very touching. People will always ridicule and criticize something they don’t understand, something that does not fit into the model formed by society, if we are in any way different from that model. At the end of the day, it is not what other people think. It is what we think. It is hard to do that when we are children surrounded by negativism. As I pointed that out before 97% of people are negative, but it does not mean that we have to be one of them.
One plastic surgeon did research on women who had deformity in their faces. After successful operations, when the women were really pretty, many of them still hid their faces as they still saw themselves as being ‘ugly”. Why is that? The real beauty comes from inside. You have to see yourself pretty first before anyone can see your beauty. Changing outside without changes inside is not going to do the trick. We are like the snow flakes. You will never find another one like you and I or anyone else. We have so much to offer to the world. We have so much potential. It does not matter what our physical appearances are.
I walk with a cane, Lori. Incurable disease of my nervous system. Am I normal? For me, the question rather is, would I like to be “normal”? My answer to it is NO. For me “normal” is a person that lives with all the limitations put by our society. No, I don’t want to be “normal”. I helped so many people to change their lives and I will keep doing this for the rest of my life. I don’t want anyone to be “normal”. Who is “normal”? To me a “normal” person is an average person who goes to work with a job which he or she often does not like, lives from a paycheck to paycheck or have little savings, have 2.3 children, and have a chance of getting divorce around 40%. I want every person to feel special, unique, because they are. I want every person, to be really happy and successful with a job or career they love, and experiencing a true love. Is that possible? Yes, absolutely.
Please, read Bill’s comment on Today’s World Blog I posted in November about negativity. See how he has found his way out of negativity. Thank you for your comment Bill.
What is your view on the great question Lori posed. What is “normal”? Who is “normal’?

Why Are We Thinking Negative Thoughts? Continuation…
November 25, 2007 on 8:36 pm | In Discussion, Our Thinking | 2 CommentsReply to the comment: It is great to hear from people who want to move ahead, want to achieve something in life and want to help others. It is a great purpose to have. Good for you Sandy! Discussion: Sometimes we want all the great things in our lives and still we catch ourselves having negative thoughts of fear that it might not happen, that we are aiming too high, having doubts in our abilities. Why does that happens? We have been programmed that way. Through our lives we have been surrounded by negative people and they are the ones that programmed our thinking, our behavior. It does not mean that those people like your parents and family did not love you. They did, very much. But they were programmed the same way. They wanted the best for you, but they could not give you what they did not have. You and your loved ones and the other people that were and are a part of your life were taught to look at their present situation, look at their past situation and make decisions about their future based on that. For most people that brings lots of negative thoughts, emotions and doubts about themselves.
I always thought I was a positive person. I was wishing positive and yet I was filled with the negative thoughts I described above. My friend and I could talk for hours. But when I start to study the human mind and I stopped complaining, stopped criticizing and stopped gossiping I had nothing to talk about with my friend. Was I a positive person then? If someone asked me that question at that time in my life, I would say yes. But was I? I don’t think so.

Why Are We Thinking Negative Thoughts?
November 19, 2007 on 3:52 am | In Our Thinking | 7 CommentsWe have heard so many times in our lives that we should be positive. We also know too well that when we think negative thoughts they don’t make us feel good. Why are we thinking negative thoughts? Why are 97% of people around us negative? Why is news saturated with negative information?
Why do you think it is that way? What are your thoughts about it? Write me your comments, your ideas.
I am looking forward to your thoughts. Amanda Devine
