New Year’s Resolution
January 1, 2009 on 2:08 am | In Habits | No CommentsAnother New Year, and another New Year’s Resolution. Many people wait for the New Year to start something new, to make a change. It is another year and another fresh start. Say to yourself that this year, that’s it! I am going to do it and I am going to stick to it no matter what! So, what if you messed it up? It is not the end of the world. Yesterday is not important. You can not change it, so like one of my clients says, “So what? Move on!” You can not change what you have done today or yesterday, so forget about it. Start it again, not next day, not next year, start it right now! Pick it up again! You can not change the past, but you can change your tomorrow. Take the next possible minute and pick it up again, and again, if you have to. Make that conscious decision, “This year is MY YEAR and I am going to achieve it!
You can have magic in your life when you move from your old thinking to the new one. The New Year just started and it is the first day of your life. Make the best of it! I will show you in the few next blogs what happens when you take care of your thoughts. It pays beyond imagination!!!

A New Year’s Resolution
December 26, 2007 on 8:40 pm | In Habits | 4 CommentsEvery single year, just before January 1st or just after, we make plans what we are going to change in our lives in the coming year. We want to lose weight, exercise more, quit smoking, earn more money, get a better job, study more, get that car or that house…or whatever it is that we want. Very often we make a New Year’s Resolution and somehow the things we want, do not happen. We start every year promising ourselves that this time we are really going to do it. And we are doing it for a while and then…somehow…we are not sure why things start to slide down and our excitement about improvement gets lower and lower and we fall into the same trap. We are back to the old thing. Why?
The answer is very simple. What stops us in our tracks are our old habits. The habits that controlled us for our entire life are controlling us now as well. We want to do well, we plan to do well and we start well, but until we change those habits nothing is going to change in our lives. Very often we underestimate the power of our habits. They are so powerful and they virtually control every move we make. As an example, this morning when you went to your bathroom and picked up your toothbrush, you did not try to figure out what to do with it. You automatically started to brush your teeth. The same happened when you went to get dressed. You did not think how to put your clothes on, you only picked up what you wanted to wear and then you put them on, not giving a single thought that your legs go into trousers instead of arms. It was automatic. The same way you drive your car.. and the same way different areas of our lives are controlled by our habits.
So, for us to be able to change anything in our lives in 2008 we have to change our habits first.
What is your New Year’s Resolution?
What are you going to do about it?
Write me your thoughts.

“Failure should be our teacher, not our undertaker. Failure is delay, not defeat. It is a temporary detour not a dead end. Failure is something we can avoid, by saying nothing, doing nothing and being nothing.”

Let’s trip over, take a wrong turn or catch a tiny fish. This way we know we are going somewhere. Those are the lessons of life and we can not get them and learn from them, if we stay were we are.
