Intuition
January 6, 2008 on 5:28 am | In Sixth Sense |One of the mental faculties that I teach people about is Intuition. It is such an important and fascinating faculty and yet we know so little about it.
Let’s look at some definitions of intuition from the dictionary.
Intuition - an ability to sense or know immediately without reasoning.
Intuition in Psychology – understanding without apparent effort, quick and ready insight seemingly independent of previous experiences or empirical knowledge.
Intuition is an apparent ability to acquire knowledge without a clear inference or reasoning process.
It is “the immediate apprehension of an object by the mind without the intervention of any reasoning process” [Oxford English Dictionary].
So, as you can see, intuition is an apparent phenomenon, something we commonly call “the gut feeling” or “the sixth sense”. It has been the subject of study in psychology as well as a topic of interest in the supernatural. Everyone of us experienced it. Some of us experience it on regular basis. But what intuition really is? All the above definitions agree that is an ability to acquire knowledge, knowing something without the reasoning process. It is as someone or something gives us that knowledge in an instance which shows as “the gut feeling” and when we act on it we find that the “message” that was send to us through that “sixth sense” that was perfectly correct. Through my extensive research on a subject of our mind I know without a doubt that we can not be successful in anything without that amazing intuition. It is more important than we can ever imagine. In my personal life, my intuition always proved right and any time if I did not follow that gut feeling it proved to be a disaster. Now, I understand why. And I understand why every time we have that gut feeling inside us, to do something, we have to follow it. It will always prove right. It will always be there to guide us, show us the next step towards our goal, our dream.

“Look at a day when you supremely satisfied at the end. It’s not a day when you lounge around doing nothing; it is when you’ve had everything to do, and you’ve done it.”

I have been burned when I don’t listen to my instinct/intuition. You are correct, it is like the universe or God whispering in your ear. Sometimes you have to be very quiet to hear it and sometimes it punches you right in the gut!
It is a gift though and something I look forward to developing further.
