Why Are We Thinking Negative Thoughts? Continuation…
November 25, 2007 on 8:36 pm | In Discussion, Our Thinking |Reply to the comment: It is great to hear from people who want to move ahead, want to achieve something in life and want to help others. It is a great purpose to have. Good for you Sandy! Discussion: Sometimes we want all the great things in our lives and still we catch ourselves having negative thoughts of fear that it might not happen, that we are aiming too high, having doubts in our abilities. Why does that happens? We have been programmed that way. Through our lives we have been surrounded by negative people and they are the ones that programmed our thinking, our behavior. It does not mean that those people like your parents and family did not love you. They did, very much. But they were programmed the same way. They wanted the best for you, but they could not give you what they did not have. You and your loved ones and the other people that were and are a part of your life were taught to look at their present situation, look at their past situation and make decisions about their future based on that. For most people that brings lots of negative thoughts, emotions and doubts about themselves.
I always thought I was a positive person. I was wishing positive and yet I was filled with the negative thoughts I described above. My friend and I could talk for hours. But when I start to study the human mind and I stopped complaining, stopped criticizing and stopped gossiping I had nothing to talk about with my friend. Was I a positive person then? If someone asked me that question at that time in my life, I would say yes. But was I? I don’t think so.
Why news reports mainly negative information?
Write me your comments, your ideas.
I am looking forward to your thoughts.

Amanda we met about a month ago at a luncheon put on by the American Lung Association and I have to tell you after talking to you , you are an inspiration for everyone including myself. I have always praised myself in positive thinking and positive mental attitude but, after talking with you and listening to you and what you have gone thru I really do admire you and Thank You for what you are doing. I really believe that thru your teachings it has helped me to get my latest job, I really thought I was doomed as I am 61 yrs young and who is going to hire me…hmm well someone thought different…I want to Thank You Amanda for being my friend.
Sincerely,
Sandy

I saw a wonderful thought today that really seems relevant. It was up on the wall of the gym I use and it said, “Don’t let weakness convince you that you lack strength.”
That is a root of many people’s struggle against bad situations and negative thoughts. They are convinced that they do not have the power.
